Wired or WirelessĪnother major factor to consider is whether you want a wired or wireless headset. If a headset is uncomfortable, you’ll want to take it off after no more than 20 minutes of gaming. You may think that finding a gaming headset with excellent audio and microphone quality is the next most important thing, but trust me, you’ll want something that’s comfortable. Most important is that you find a headset that is compatible with your gaming computer or video game console. But for the most part, finding the best one comes down to the same criteria. I keep seeing people say their headsets sound soft. Not all gaming headphones are created equal, and choosing the best gaming headset can be highly personal. Go into settings and adjust the sound to the headset from 50% to 85% or even higher. Little tip for anyone who feels their headset has low sound. I don't need it for anything other then the PS4 and on occasion remote playing to my Mac. Simply for wireless convenience, they integrate well with the OS on the ps4, VSS is outstanding, and the few games that support 3D audio it sounds incredible. Keep in mind this solution will only do stereo unless you connect an AMP to it. Both are absolutely INCREDIBLE, and really no gaming headset can compare. They will recommend the Sennheiser 598 or 558. The Astro A50's by many accounts are considered the best of the best, but they are $300.Īnyone who really is into sound will tell you a wired headset and a boom mic is the way to go. If you want virtual surround sound you have a very limited range of what can be purchased. Platinums have more bass, 3D audio, 50mm drivers, and a big jump in build quality. It is well documented if you don't treat them well they break. Golds being cheaper, fantastic sound, but downside is it is built with all plastic. When the headset is outputting stereo it still sounds clean and fantastic.įor just the PS4, you can not go wrong with the Golds or the Platinum headset. This is the most comfortable headset I've ever worn. Keep in mind that VSS is done via software and audiophiles will tell you it actually degrades the sound and is a fad. You will only get 7.1 virtual surround sound on PC though. You can use that headset on practically any device. The most flexibility you will get in a headset is the Arctis 7.
